WASTE DEGRADING PROBIOTIC FOR SHRIMP CULTURE

DESCRIPTION:

ALKEN CLEAR-FLO® 1200 is a specially designed synergistic combination of bacteria which degrade organic matter, and two species of nitrifying bacteria for ammonia removal. ALKEN CLEAR-FLO® 1200 is ideal for combatting the most common problems associated with high nutrient levels in hatcheries and grow-out ponds -- murky water, stock suffocation and off-flavors. ALKEN CLEAR-FLO® 1200 also degrades nominal levels of contamination by pesticides and other synthetic organic contaminants.

CHARACTERISTICS:

 Bacteria count:  500 MILLION CFU/ml
 Appearance:  Hazy liquid
 Odor:  Slightly musty
 pH:  6.5 to 9.0
Ammonia Oxidation Rate:  6 mg NH3/liter/hr

FEATURES AND BENEFITS:

  • Increases yields by increasing both survival rate and animal weight. Typically, ponds under semi-intensive culture that formerly yielded 500 lbs per hectare improved to yield 1,500 to 1,700 lbs. per hectare; shrimp size increased from 12 - 15 grams to 20 - 23 grams.
  • Promotes a healthy aquatic environment.
  • Eliminates turbidity.
  • Reduces sludge buildup and the potential for anaerobic conditions in pond bottoms.
  • Reduces or eliminates time required to oxidize the pond bottoms between growing cycles. ALKEN CLEAR-FLO® 1200 increases the usual harvest of intensive culture ponds from 2 harvests to 3 harvests per year.
  • Greatly increases useful pond life.
  • Reduces or eliminates stock losses, due to organic pollution or toxic ammonia concentration.
  • Reduces or eliminates off-flavor problems.
  • Effective over a wide temperature range (49degrees F to 105 degrees F) and a wide pH range (6.5 to 9.0).

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

See Aquaculture/Lake/Pond dosage charts for average application rate. for general application rates. General initial dose is 1 to 2 gallons per hectare. Be aware that a heavy rainfall may bring significant contamination with its runoff, and a one-time dosage equal to the initial application may be needed to restore control. Mechanical aeration may be needed where natural aeration is deficient. Nitrifiers consume 7.2 ppm of alkalinity for each ppm of ammonia oxidized to nitrate, so adjust alkalinity if necessary to stay within that range. Do not use algaecides, herbicides or antibiotics in the pond, when using ALKEN CLEAR-FLO® 1200, because they may kill the bacteria.

Supplement: Add one oz dry product/gal liquid or 1 teaspoon of dry product/9 oz liquid product. When seeding a biofilter, do not premix dry and liquid components. Apply the dry product directly into the filter media.

Shrimp farmers have generally switched to using the newer combination of CF 1006 and CF 1100-50x for better product shelf-life and reduced shipping costs. These two products are also available with a shorter lead time than the three weeks preparation required for CF 1200.

PACKAGING AND HANDLING:

ALKEN CLEAR-FLO® 1200 is packaged in 5 and 55-gallon containers. Store in a cool place. Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and open wounds. Wash hands with warm, soapy water after handling.
