Material Safety Data Sheet

CF 5100 Respirometer Study

Bioremediation by Land farming

LIQUID ALL-IN-ONE
PETROLEUM BIOREMEDIATION PRODUCT

DESCRIPTION:

ALKEN CLEAR-FLO® 5100 offers an effective and safe synergy of the surface cleaning power of ALKEN SURFACE CLEANER 874 biodegradable surfactants, powerful petroleum degrading bacterial endo-spores and additional Bacillus strains to digest secondary metabolites, including long-chain fatty acids. ALKEN CLEAR-FLO® 5100 biodegradable surfactants effectively remove surface and embedded stains from spilled petroleum products on concrete and asphalt garage or shop floors, driveways, loading docks, fueling areas, parking lots and oil storage areas, and then inoculates the contaminants with 8 strains of Bacillus bacterial cells, along with nutrients, micro-nutrients and germination catalysts, from ALKEN 896, necessary for complete biodegradation. This formula can also be used for power washing contaminated soil, gravel, sand or rocks and for cleaning heavy machiner

CHARACTERISTICS:

 Bacteria count:  130 million CFU/ml (492 billion CFU/gal)
 Appearance:  White to off-white
 Odor:  Ammonia
  pH:  7.5 -8.5

FEATURES & BENEFITS:

  • Inoculates contaminated materials with petroleum and secondary metabolite-degrading bacteria.
  • Equally successful for crude petroleum, lubricating oil, gasoline and diesel spills
  • Shortens clean-up times for oil spills and stains
  • Cleans oily equipment, vehicles and tools
  • Cleans up spills from hydraulic brake lines and equipment failures
  • Contains no petroleum distillates or solvents
  • Contains essential microbial nutrients and oxygen catalysts
  • Enhances biodegradation above and below ground surface, when used as recommended.
  • Economical and ecologically sound
  • Eliminates removal and replacement of contaminated materials
  • 1 gallon will cover at least 50 to 80 ft2, for most applications.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

Optimum Application Method: Apply diluted CF 5100 using pressure washer with foaming nozzle, at = or > 60 psig. Alternatively, dilute product and pour directly onto stains and brush surface to create foam. Always allow diluted product to work for 20 to 30 miniutes before rinsing.
General Dilutions:
• Heavy aged oil stains or Soaked-in Stains; Dilute 1:2 for maximum surfactant performance. Soak for 15 minutes, then add enough water to dilute to 1:10 ratio, brush to enhance foaming and allow treatment to work overnight, for maximum bacterial performance. Keep work site damp during treatment. Then brush and rinse thoroughly. Repeat if necessary.
• Tool cleanup: 1:3 to 1:5
• Parts Cleanup: 1:5 to 1:8
• Fresh oil stains: 1:10
• General Cleaning: 1:25
Hard Surface Cleaning: Dampen the contaminated surface before treatment. Allow solution to work for 20 -30 minutes, then brush and rinse.
Soil (porous surface) Cleaning: Scrape surface, dampen and apply product via a foaming nozzle = or > 60 psig. Allow to soak from 30 minutes to overnight, depending on level of contamination.Scrape the surface again and rinse thoroughly. Repeat treatment, if necessary.
Power wash sand, gravel, stones or rocks: Apply diluted treatment, using pressure washer with foaming nozzle = or > 60 psig, following dilution and directions for treating heavy aged oil stains, above.
Augment Soil Remediation Performance of Selected Dry Bioremediation product: Pre-wet soil and apply hydrated nutrients needed to balance organic carbon to be treated. Then apply 0.1 gallons ALKEN CLEAR-FLO® 5100 plus 0.5 to 1 gallon of unchlorinated water per cubic yard of soil to be treated, via a pressure washer with foaming nozzle 60 psig. After allowing ALKEN CLEAR-FLO® 5100 to work alone for 15 minutes, apply hydrated dry hydrocarbon degrading formula (ALKEN CLEAR-FLO® 7036, 7037, or 7038), according to directions on product technical bulletin and MSDS for product selected. Keep soil wet, to at least 40% of moisture holding capacity during treatment and monitor results and nutrient consumption, augmenting as needed. Be sure sufficient aeration or stabilized peroxide formula is applied, to create an aerobic environment that will speed bioremediation processes.
General Equipment Cleaning: Dilute 1:3 to 1:5 and apply without prewetting. Do not clean painted surfaces of equipment in direct sunlight.
Parts Cleanup in Dip-Tank: Dilute 1:10 to 1:15 in cleaning tank. Soak equipment for 1 hour and then dip in rinse tank to remove all traces of cleaning product.
Tank Cleaning: First dissolve sludge buildup by treating with ALKEN EVEN-FLO® 905, according to tank cleaning directions and suck out the oil-dissolved sludge stable mixture before applying ALKEN CLEAR-FLO® 5100, according to directions for treating aged oil. After allowing 1:2 dilution to work for 30 minutes, dilute to 1:10 and soak overnight. The next day, apply additional 1:10 dilution, using power washer and then drain treatment water into open treatment tank with aeration. Then apply plain water via power washer until walls and floor of tank are completely clean. Drain residual water into open treatment tank and aerate, testing TPH and COD until acceptable levels are reached to permit discharge. If it is necessary to obtain faster remediation, test treatment water
Precautions/Limitations: Read and follow precautions on MSDS. Pretest new finishes by applying to a small area first. Do not apply to painted surfaces in direct sunlight. Wear protective clothing (gloves, eye protection and long sleeve shirts).

PACKAGING AND HANDLING:

ALKEN CLEAR-FLO® 5100 is packaged in 5- gallon pails. Store in a cool place. Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and open wounds. Wash hands with soap and water after handling.
