MUNICIPAL COLD WEATHER TREATMENT

DESCRIPTION:

ALKEN CLEAR-FLO® 7001 is a is a concentrated dry blend of selected bacteria that perform synergistically to degrade the organic constituents that characterize municipal wastewater systems stressed by low temperatures in winter, restoring efficient performance to any type of suspended-growth or fixed-film treatment system, from activated sludge systems to simple lagoons and trickling filters, to biotowers and RBCs, while delivering this performance under LOW TEMPERATURE CONDITIONS.

ALKEN CLEAR-FLO® 7001 combines four (4) endospore-forming Bacillus spp.with a pair of powerful gram-negative, vegetative cultures, known to deliver outstanding digestion of a variety of foods, including FOG (food Fat, Oil and Grease) in our Alken Clear-Flo® 4000 series products, supplemented by the two key "cold-temperature specialist" strains that have made Alken Clear-Flo® 7018 such a successful treatment for cold-temperature industrial wastewater applications. This cold-municipal consortium will deliver improved cold weather operations, with improved solids settling and decreased effluent TSS,BOD and COD.

CHARACTERISTICS:

 Bacterial count:  5 billion CFU/gram
 Appearance:  Free flowing, brown powder
 Odor:  Yeast-like
 pH:  Neutral

FEATURES AND BENEFITS:

  • Can handle waste contaminated with chemicals such as phenols and other hydrocarbons which are toxic to naturally occurring bacteria.
  • Highly active at low temperatures.
  • Contains no raw enzymes or surfactants
  • Encourages protozoa growth rates and increased diversity
  • Buffers effects from industrial waste loadings and toxic shocks to the system
  • Acceelerates start-up of new systems, and recovery after upsets.
  • Product cultures can utilize aerobic, facultative or fermentative metabolic pathways, based on availability of dissolved oxygen, nitrate and nitrite in the system.
  • Effective at temperatures from 39 degrees F to 90degrees F (4 deg.C to 32 degrees C)
  • Effective over a wide pH range, from 6.0 to 8.5.
  • Non-toxic, non-corrosive, safe to handle and store.

APPLICATION DIRECTIONS:

See

 Industrial/Municipal dosage charts
for general application rates. Your Alken-Murray service representative will prescribe both the initial application and the maintenance doses taking into consideration such factors as the total daily influent and effluent, BOD/COD loadings, suspended solids and levels of pesticides or other contaminants. Be aware that a heavy rainfall may bring significant contamination with its runoff, and a one-time dosage equal to the initial application may be needed to restore control. Mechanical aeration may be needed where natural aeration is deficient.

Although product may be applied dry, either loose or in soluble packets, for optimum bacterial performance, we recommend that you hydrate ALKEN CLEAR-FLO® 7001 before application. Thoroughly mix each pound of dry product with two gallons of warm (approx.70 F) water without chlorine. Allow the mixture to hydrate for two hours, stirring vigorously every half hour. After final settling, carefully pour off the top liquid layer for use, squeeze all liquid from the bran that has settled into the liquid and either dispose of the remaining bran, or toss into the system. Avoid use of algaecides, herbicides, and antibiotics when using ALKEN CLEAR-FLO®.

PACKAGING AND HANDLING:

ALKEN CLEAR-FLO® 7001 is packaged in 25-, 50-, and 500-pound containers. Store in a cool, dry place. Avoid contact with eyes, skin, or open wounds and wash hands with warm, soapy water after handling.
