Stedam's Dressed in Blue, solid blue American Shorthair

Stedam's Dressed in Blue, rare solid blue American SH female with correct brilliant gold eye color and hard coat texture. Sired by GC, NW Stedam's All-American, DM out of CH. Crown E Special Delivery of Stedam.Absolutely correct American Shorthair type, completely distinct from other shorthair breeds found in the blue color, including Chartreaux, British, Russian Blue, Korat, etc. Her type is very reminiscent of distant ancestor, Eng.CH.Ballochmyle Brother Bump, who appears in the 22nd, 26th and 28th generation of her pedigree through her sire's side and the 35th generation through her maternal grand-dam's pedigree. These connections trace first through the oldest domestic connection to Brother Bump's grand-daughter, Mixte, who was registered in the CFA kitten register as #23, but tracing through GC, RW Murjani Lone Ranger to one of his great-grandmothers,CH.Jezreel Jandorina of Juno, Imp. a lovely solid blue imported by June Brown of Juno cattery, provides another lead-in to lines tha trace back to the early blue Shorthairs, including Eng.Ch. Ballochmyle Brother Bump, Eng.Ch. Sherdley Michael, Eng.Ch. Ashbrittle Peter the Great (ID in photo as Ashbrittle Peter, but registered first as "Peter the Great" and later "Ashbrittle Peter the Great".

Through her maternal grand-dam, Dressy's cousin is Ch.Crown E Medicine Hat of Placer, DM

The PawPads website has copied other photos from Frances Simpson's "Book of the Cat" section on early blue Shorthairs, a section including the original cats that became the modern British Shorthair with their fat-cheeked, heavy jowled faces(see Sherdley Michael, Sherdley Alexis, Sherdley Sacha I & Sherdley Sacha II for examples), the snake-shaped head of the Russian Blue (see Bayard as an early example) and the "Maltese" or "blue American Shorthair" distinguished by a square muzzle, assymetrical eye shape, well-angulated shoulder sand hindlegs for enhanced jumping ability (see Eng.CH. Ballochmyle Brother Bump as an example).. The color artwork showing a blue Shorthair in profile looks incredibly similar to our "Dressy" . see her photos above. The photographs and paintings from Frances Simpson's "Book of the Cat" much more closely resemble the modern American Shorthair, EXCEPT the Sherdley Hall blues, which display type between the American and modern British, since they had no influence from modern Persians, which were introduced after World War II. Look around the PawPads website at the early Persian Longhairs, that had very long noses,
