The EPA Banned Two Organo-Phosphate Pesticides on 7/30/99 According to Chem-News http://chemnews.cambridgesoft.com/ , The EPA banned
the use of two widely used organo-phosphate pesticides, citing concerns
about potential damage to the nervous system. The serious dangers of organo-phosphate
pollution have incited us to again request that those few chemical water
treatment clients still purchasing phosphate water treatment, consider switching
to safer molybdate formulas. |
A European Union Council Is Concerned About Antibiotic Resistance Chem-News http://chemnews.cambridgesoft.com/ reports that a European
union council has identified antibiotic resistance as a major potential
threat and are mobilizing strategies to counter this problem. Alken-Murray
is always careful to utilize only strains that ARE susceptible to commonly
available antibiotics, to avoid any such safety issues. Our antibiotic resistance
testing data is posted on our site at http://www.alken-murray.com/antibio.html |

Whatever Happened to Alken Enz-Odor® 3? Although not posted on our website, this product
is alive and well. Despite the application limitation imposed by its carbon
dioxide gassing problem, this product still has special applications where
amines, mercaptans and sulfide gases need to be bound more rapidly than
they can be broken down by bacteria. Available in 5 gallon pails with vented
caps - ONLY. Additional information available on request. |
Confusion between "Semi" and "Bi" Your redhead, and currently red-faced, editor
would like to draw your attention to a small change in the dosage charts
of Enz-Odor 2 and CF 4100. The dosage for septic
tanks was supposed to be "every other month" and I thought the
correct term was "semi-monthly", but I have been corrected and
told that the correct term is "bi-monthly". Since others may make
the same mistake, we have changed the chart to say "every 2 months".
Thank you for your patience. |

Chem-News Reports that Government Panel Recommends Removing MTBE from Gasoline Since studies have indicated that this emission-reducing
additive can seriously pollute water tables when spilled or when storage
tanks leak, a government panel has recommended removal of this additive
from gasoline. It is estimated that millions of gallons of this difficult
to degrade substance are spilled annually, The same issue of Chem-News http://chemnews.cambridgesoft.com/
tells that the Senate has authorized $300 million for research on new ways
to make ethanol from crops, grass and trees, since ethanol could replace
MTBE as a gasoline additive, without the harmful side-effects of MTBE. Alken-Murray
has never marketed MTBE or any other additive with harmful environmental
effects. |
