Emergency Overview: Caution: May cause severe irritation to eyes or skin. May be irritating to respiratory tract.

Potential Health Effects:

  • Signs and Symptoms of Acute Overexposure: Contact with dust can cause irritation or burns to skin and eyes. Swallowing may be irritating or corrosive to the gastrointestinal tract.
  • Signs and Symptoms of Chronic overexposure: Repeated exposure may cause chronic bronchitis or respiratory inflammation. Repeated skin contact may cause dermatitis.
  • Medical Conditions Generally Aggravated by Exposure: None known

4. First Aid Measures

  • Inhalation: Remove patient to fresh air. Get medical attention, if patient experiences breathing difficulty.
  • Ingestion: Give patient at least 2 - 4 glasses of water or milk to drink to dilute the product. Take patient to medical facility immediately
  • Skin Contact: Remove contaminated clothing and footwear. Wash skin with soap and water. Wash clothing before reuse. Get medical attention if irritation persists.
  • Eye Contact: Immediately flush eyes with water for 15 minutes. Forcibly hold eyelids apart to ensure complete irrigation of eye and eyelid tissue. Get immediate medical attention.
  • Note to Physician: Treat symptomatically.

6. Accidental Release Measures

Sweep and shovel up dry chemical. Recover for use if possible, or transfer to a suitable non-metallic container for disposal at an approved waste disposal facility. Vacuuming or wet sweeping may be used to avoid dust dispersal

 Store in cool dry place. Store in a tightly closed container. Wash thoroughly after handling. Use only in a well ventilated area. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and clothing. Do not inhale or ingest.

10. Stability and Reactivity

  • Hazardous Decomposition Products: Sulphur dioxide and sulphur trioxide gases, nitrogen oxides, ammonia in a fire.
  • Hazardous Polymerization: will not occur.
  • Incompatibility: Nitrites, nitrates, and chlorates. Hypochlorites, cyanides. A violent explosive reaction occurs with chlorine; metal nitrates + heat; and fuming nitric acid.
