 ALKEN® SOLUTIONS A3040L

Material Safety Data Sheet

DESCRIPTION:

ALKEN® SOLUTIONS A3040L is a white water-oil emulsion, anionic polyacrylamide, (PAM) of ultra high molecular weight and medium density charge. Alken® Solutions A3040L draws pin floc into a more stable floc for easier filtration. Performs best in a pH range of 7.0 - 9.0, although performance is possible within the range of 6 - 13. This product is especially suitable for applications in paper mill, textile and refinery waste water treatment plants. ALKEN® SOLUTIONS A3040L has also proven effective as a flocculant for planktonic algae in certain lakes and ponds. See links above for information on using ultra-high molecular weight anionic polyacrylamide polymers for control of soil erosion. Residual acrylamide monomer equals less than 0.05%. w/w and ALKEN® SOLUTIONS A3040L contains less than 0.2% residual sodium acrylate.

ADVANTAGES:

  • Effective in municipal and industrial clarification and coagulation processes.
  • Highly concentrated. Small doses save on freight bills.
  • More environmentally friendly than aluminum salts.
  • Aids solids reduction in centrifugation process.
  • Negatively charged thus delivering anionic active character in aqueous solutions
  • Aids in dewatering sludge.
  • Very dilute solutions aid erosion control plans

DOSAGE:

The dosage of this highly concentrated product is usually 3 to 4 gallons per MGD (million gallons per day). For a pond or lake, a single dose should be sufficient, at a dose of 3 to 4 mg/L(ppm). Laboratory "jar tests" can be used to verify the correct dosage. Do not overdose, as this product is paradoxically less effective at higher rates

For control of soil erosion, be certain to apply above a pre-constructed sediment trap or basin inflow structure. If applying via sprinkler system, apply 1.8 - 2.7 Liters (0.5 - 0.6 gallons) each time, keeping total application below 492 Liters (130 gallons) per acre each year. If applying directly to irregation water, keep dosages at or below 14 mg/L (ppm). Avoid direct application or runoff to wetlands or state water. Dosages have been adjusted based on average concentration of pure PAM in this emulsion formula.

PACKAGING and HANDLING:

ALKEN® SOLUTIONS A3040L is generally packaged in 55-gallon steel or fiberglass drums (500 lbs, net) which conform to Performance Oriented Packaging Specifications. A small stock of 5 gallon plastic pails, with pour spout, are also offered from time to time. This product should not be used until a Material Safety Data Sheet has been reviewed by supervisory and operating personnel. Gloves, aprons, and safety glasses are recommended when working with this product. Store in a clean, dry area. Avoid contact with organic materials, concentrated acids, and highly alkaline materials. Keep containers closed when not in use and discard when empty. Harmonized Tariff Code: 3906.90.50 (Acrylic polymers - other).
